Sandy Koufax League (Player Pitch) Parent/Player information

League                                   Sandy Koufax League is a competitive “Player Pitch” league focused on intermediate baseball “team” fundamentals.  The Sandy Koufax League is for boys ages 14/15u.

Location                                Location                                All practices will be held on our surrounding Saint Michael/Albertville Baseball Fields.  Since Mickey Mantle is part of the Quad Cities league, Games will take place with neighboring cities (Rogers, Elk River, Big Lake, Monticello and more)  So their is a little travel involved, this is so the kids aren't playing the same teams in STMA.

Teams                                    All players at this level are required to try-out even if they do not plan to play travel baseball.  This allows the league to evenly distribute the talent based on their individual try-out score. Teams are formed using the try-out score OR picked at random by In House Vice President if no score is available.  Teams will be made up of 10 to 13 players per team.  There is no buddy request at this level.

Equipment             STMA Youth baseball will provide a Hat, Jersey, Pants and Catchers equipment.  Players are to provide their own Glove,  Bat, Helmet and Cleats

Practice/Game Nights       Sandy Koufax will meet Tuesday/Thursday/Friday at 6:15 pm.  Although we try to stick to this schedule, this may flex a little based on the Quad Cities League Schedule.  The Sandy Koufax Coaches and league Coordinator meet with the league in early April to create game schedules.     Coaches are to hold a minimum of 1 hour for practice, but can extend practice time at their discretion.  League games are 7 innings, or 2 hour time limit.  Parents are strongly encouraged to stay at the field during Baseball activities.

Season Length                     Weather permitting:  League will tentatively start the first week in May and end Mid July.

Jamboree                              All teams will participate in the End of the year Tourney hosted by Big Lakes Quad Cities League.   This information, along with all league standings, rules, contacts will all be posted and driven through the Quad Cities Baseball website.  www.leaguelineup.com/welcome.asp?url=quadcityleague

Coaches                                We ALWAYS need coaches!!  Please contact your league coordinator if you are interested in coaching, or would like more information.

Weather/Rain outs            STMA closures will be posted on Facebook & Sports Engine.  Away games will be decided by the opposing team.  That information is then communicated from an STMA Coach or team Manager.  All games WILL be made up at a later date.  Make up games may fall on an “off” day if needed based on field availability.  If a practice is rained out, it is up to the coaches to reschedule or cancel.
